"No peace without sacrifice"
In 1892, legendary Captain Joseph J. Blocker agrees to return a dying chief of an Indian tribe named Chief Yellow Hawk to his hometown. The two must make an extremely perilous journey from an isolated military post in New Mexico to the verdant sprawl of Montana. During their journey, they encounter a young widow whose family has been murdered. Then they will have to work together to endure all the hardships along the way to reach the final destination.

Beautiful western. The story is not special but is very well developed by Cooper. The opening cuts right in. After that, the film is built up very slowly and we get to know the various characters well. Slow, yes, but the film never bores. You are constantly fascinated by the strong acting as well as the beautiful images of nature. Very nicely shot, all with an equally beautiful soundtrack. The film contains some action scenes and those are good. The ending is full of emotion. Top! 4.0

In 'Hostiles' (2017), the advancing civilization has only moral losers. The decisive battles have been fought and white dominance is irreversible. 'Hostiles' (2017) is a melancholic, contemplative western about taciturn men who have to come to terms with their own legacy of bloodshed and violence. As it should be with the better titles in the genre: lazily rippling to reinforce this lived-in atmosphere. In addition, I recently decided that my 12-year-old HD-ready had gathered more dust than a prairie landscape and it was time to disconnect the historical artifact. A little melancholy, I exchanged it for a brand new model with a razor-sharp image. I gazed with such enthusiasm at the new depths that an atmospheric gem like 'Hostiles' (2017) acquires on an epic screen.
