Hang 'em High plot

"The hanging was the best show in town. But they made two mistakes. They hung the wrong man and they didn't finish the job!"

Former Marshall and now rancher Jed Cooper is innocently lynched by a group of men led by ex-Colonel Wilson. Jed survives with the swift intervention of Marshal Dave Bliss, who was nearby with a prisoner transport to Red Creek. When proven innocence, Jed receives a request from the very fanatical Judge Fenton of Red Creek to resume his old profession as a marshall, after it is revealed that Calhoun has been murdered. Jed agrees and he can now, law book in hand, go after the perpetrators of the lynching.

Good western with again a strong cold-blooded Eastwood. The role of Pat Hingle in this film is also strong. The romance is a bit redundant and takes too much momentum out of the film.
