"First Contact. Last Stand."
In 1873, Jake Lonergan, who can't remember anything about his past, ends up in the desert town of 'Absolution'. The only clue to his identity is a mysterious brace on his hand. Jake soon learns that the town is suspicious of strangers and does nothing without Colonel Dolarhyde's permission. However, when they are attacked by aliens and the villagers are abducted one by one by the aliens, Jake, the stranger who was initially not welcome in the town, seems to be the only hope for rescue.

Fine,
Been a while since I first saw the movie. I had given the film a 4.0 at the time and thought it was actually too high for this film. Back then I was a huge fan of monster/alien movies and I found this movie very exciting.
I still found the movie quite exciting at times. It's dark at times and I like that. The alien looked okay, not really very original and beautiful, but it could still be nice and scary. The film is a bit too long and some parts were not very interesting. Fortunately, most of it was interesting and the film still scored a sufficient score.
From 4.0 to 3.0.

Finally watched it after I kept walking around reading the rather special title. The movie title sums it up perfectly. Absurd combo, but not bad in itself. The fine western setting has something to it and Craig does well as a gruff cowboy. I had a little more trouble with Ford, not that it was his fault, but I had a hard time reconciling him with the character.
Pretty scary aliens, very fast and very strong too. Almost unbeatable at first, but as the fighting progressed they soon lost a lot of their feathers. For the rest not too special. There is a forced brotherhood with the Indians and the course was at times strange, but let us remember that the director managed to interweave two apparently impossible to combine subjects.
