Nice western by Wayne that doesn't differ that much from other b-westerns around that time. Just under an hour is enough for this kind of simple stories.

The image is sometimes too dark, making it difficult to distinguish what exactly is going on.

Slightly better western than many of those other short films with Wayne from that time. Nice atmosphere though and with some nice scenes. It is also very nicely shot, although the image quality is lousy. Of course, much too short and therefore this feels more like a summary than a lived-in film. Acting is correspondingly, actors seem to play without inspiration. A Wayne can manage with some charisma and his typical voice, the rest is very mediocre. With those cows, the film was also reminiscent of later films such as Red River and Australia, but because I know the later ones, this is hardly spectacular anymore. 2.0*.

"Hey, a fight, which side to we take?" "The winning side of course" (free translation of the Don).

A nice conversation in the beginning of the film, but otherwise a predictable story with a remarkably naive John Wayne. Playing poker in a movie is rarely interesting anyway.
