Nice raw dow action film with a big wink. The story is simple but secondary. The effect is pretty brutal. There is little build-up and one action scene quickly follows the other, using a good dose of violence. It's not really believable, but does that matter? No not really. Just clear your mind and you enjoy a nice clumsy action movie. The acting is okay, although the protagonist has little text. Visually acceptable. 3.5

After the weak and especially watered-down Big Game, I wouldn't have given a cent more for the further career of the Finnish director Jalmari Helander (who made a great debut with Rare Exports), but with this completely unhinged and ultra-violent war film he hits back hard. Tone and design are repeatedly reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino's work, but fortunately that is hardly an obstacle and certainly not a disadvantage. Jorma Tommila (the father from Rare Exports) is sublime as a silent avenger who stoically makes his way through the Finnish landscape and a platoon of Nazis. The bloody situations, and there are quite a few, are sublimely portrayed and the film largely manages to strike the right tone. In the finale, the film goes a bit over the top, but hey, by then I'm happy to overlook that. The kid from Rare Exports (and Big Game) also has a big supporting role here.

Tarantino style. Raw war film. Cheap surroundings all in the desolate countryside. Handful of virtually unknown and therefore cheap actors and extras. But oh what an entertaining movie. It's not about whether you win or lose, but about the determination to die. And it always seems that way. I enjoyed this attitude. A great performance with a Tom Cruise action at the end that you only see in a mission impossible movie. Earned 4 points.
