In the strange world of Urbania, life can change completely in one second. Urbania in this case is New York, where Charlie (a subtle role by Dan Futterman) roams the night. He is single again after a relationship, but he cannot cope with the loss of his friend. On his tours of cafes in the dark streets of downtown Manhattan, his gaze briefly meets that of a beautiful tough boy. That is the beginning of a 'journey to the end of the night'. Increasingly possessed, Charlie tries to find the mysterious stranger. On those quests, he meets old friends and new acquaintances, such as a teetotal bum and a horny soap actor, all of whom have a strong story to tell: sandwich monkey stories about microwaved poodles or stolen kidneys.
