Weird film, fine for 1 night further. I had fun with it and I don't put any spoilers in my review, after I've seen this movie I still don't understand it.

Mediocre.

I wanted to see these years earlier, but it hadn't happened. Because of the reviews I didn't want to waste money on it, so I had to wait for it to come on TV. When he finally came back on TV, I took it with him.

Cage plays below par. Very occasionally he still manages to convince, but only with his angry attacks. Besides, it's just a pretty cliche character. But he plays better than any admirer of "Summerisle". Burstyn in one of her most outrageous roles, Beahan flops unbelievably and the rest just walk a little weak.

Lots of holes left open, why can't the men talk?, and only at the sacrifice at the end does the film come to life. Not exciting at all, mystery is certainly present but rather weakly developed. There could be a lot more to this in a remake if the actors felt like it.

2.0*

A mystery that is not wrong in its core, but which lacks a lot in the execution.

It is quite nice to mention the story surrounding the case that Malus is coming to investigate. Inflexible people, shadowy situations... things certainly don't seem right, but what about? Something that will certainly remain unclear until the very end. The nightmares and flashbacks are also fine. Little wrong until then.

Unfortunately, it is Cage who is far from carrying this role, nor making it interesting. He doesn't seem to be in it for a single moment with his dentures, or plate. Only towards the end, together with the denouement, Cage comes into the role slightly better. In addition, the film lacks any form of tension, something that only builds up in the last ten minutes but then has no added value purely because the end has already been settled. Apart from the fact that Sobieski is a pleasant appearance purely for the view, Burstyn also comes across as very forced.

No, unfortunately The Wicker Man could have been quite something, but it actually fails quite a bit. Despite the beautiful surroundings, and a base where a lot more could have been done.
