Nah.

Such a thing for hours there is actually little to experience. It is a film that tries to build the horror from the drama, but the mother / daughter bond is so poorly portrayed that it does not really captivate. A bit of lame drama that mainly gets in the way, while the film does not immediately give the impression of being able to pull something out of the closet in terms of horror.

That's why the final is still a surprise. Not in terms of originality, it is a horror that has taken its elements from other films and adds little to it. But I thought the effect could be there. The ending is actually exciting, not really on the edge of the chair, but still enough to call it a success.

It is therefore a pity that the run-up to that is so poor. Less is more, but only if that less actually means something. Better actors and better direction could have saved the furniture here, but unfortunately that was not possible. Hold on until the end, you will be rewarded for the last 20 minutes. At least, the last 19, because the final end is back to square one.

Not dramatic in itself for once and thanks to the ending the film still manages, but you certainly don't have to expect a great horror spectacle.

Meh.

Pyewacket comes from a director who managed to charm me with his previous film. Special to see that, since the previous environment also partly took place in nature. Despite the fact that Pyewacket responds to some other themes to fill in the drama, the scenes generally appealed to me a lot less.

Acting is still nice. Muñoz sometimes acts too much without emotion or expression, but in the end she does feel like a realistic teenager. Other roles make less of an impression, but there is no feeling that there is total ignorance. It is a pity that the design and atmosphere of the film do not work very well.

I found the filters ugly and the attempts to create atmosphere often beat to death. Tension is only briefly present in the final. Atmosphere sometimes still prevails a bit, but more during scenes that really take the rest instead of the horror scenes themselves. There is a certain amount of subcutaneous threat, but there should have been more control over it.

The subject naturally doesn't appeal to me, but fun things can be done with it. The pity is that this is precisely what is missing from this film. Short moments of potential here and there, an intriguing finale and a surprising ending. I assign my points to that. Furthermore, it will not be a film that will stay with me and I doubt that this will be the same with others.

boring and long-winded. if something finally happens at the end, it suddenly ends again and the final generic titles roll across the screen. potentially there could have been more, acting performances were not bad, but we can expect a real horror don't speak here. It doesn't get exciting anywhere. 1 star for the acting performances.
