Dead as a Doorman plot

Terry Reilly is the doorman of a large apartment building. In his spare time he writes detective stories and dreams of one day writing a best-seller. One day he witnesses the murder of a colleague. The killer manages to escape and Terry becomes a suspect. The police are forced to let him go when a second victim falls under the killer hands of "The Doorman Killer". And a third! Together with Linda, the niece of one of the victims, Terry investigates herself. When Linda is kidnapped and Terry narrowly escapes some assassination attempts, he must devise a clever ruse to save Linda.
