What a great movie, didn't have too many expectations. The way all races are filmed, with that sound, is done very nicely, you feel the tension when you watch it. The characters are very nice, they are believable, you empathize with them and are sometimes comical too. Damon and Bale both act very well again. The story was still unknown to me, I thought it was a nice story and especially the battle between Ford and Ferrari I found very fascinating. A lot of bits will probably be made up or exaggerated, but that's part of a Hollywood movie. All in all, James Mangold shows again that he is a very good director.

I thought it was a very nice film, just didn't have enough fun with it for a 4.5, but definitely a big 4.0!

Ford v Ferrari is undeniably a skillfully made film that deserved Oscars for sound and editing. Matt Damon with his Texan accent and Christian Bale with a thick, British accent make a nice duo and the whole looks great.

Yet it never really gets under your skin. There is a lack of tension and it never really rises above the boys' book level.

Of course, the Ferrari quips are entertaining. From insults to small bullying, it is all very light-hearted and therefore you as a viewer are not really completely sucked in. At some point, Ken Miles is on the fence financially, his wife is a bit angry about that, but you never get the idea that it is really dead serious.

Eye and ear pleasing, entertaining, but story-wise there could have been more.

3.5 stars

Hollywood cinema at its worst. Hey is that Bale still manages to make something of his role, although his character is also as flat as a dime

The races are fairly boring, the build-up of tension is so classic that it takes away all the tension and Ford is so unsympathetic that you root for Ferrari even more, although they hardly participate in this film.

Nice for the American with enough patriotism, although I don't think he needs a film like this anymore.
