Looper plot

"Hunted by your future, haunted by your past."

Set in the near future, where time travel is possible but highly illegal, the story centers on Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a sharp, shrewd assassin. But Joe is no ordinary hit man. The victims he makes are bound and hooded and sent back thirty years in time: he puts a bullet through their heads, burns the bodies and all traces of his crime disappear. Joe's life is beautiful, until this day a body arrives without a hood: it is his future self (Bruce Willis). And the latter has no intention of going down without a fight…

The good reviews this film gets are incomprehensible to me. I can tolerate a few plot holes, but this... this just didn't make sense at all. Even the time travel in Suske & Wiske is even more believable. Visually, I didn't like the film at all. Too slick, too styled, too much cool.

Looper was recommended to me by a buddy and I haven't regretted it. Strong SF film with a focus on time travel. Intriguing starting point to physically dump your enemies through time travel. It becomes even more interesting when you are face to face with your future self. The Rainmaker's premise was also an interesting fact that was well developed. That opening scene alone is extremely tantalizing as a looper with the clock in one hand and a shotgun in the other calmly waits for the victim to arrive.

The game between the old and young Joe is cleverly put together and is fascinating to follow. The third dog in the game of skittles, the Gat men, provide an extra pigment. The action scenes are great with the highlight being the final scene in the wheat field. Both Levitt and Willis do an excellent job and are well cast. Looper is a movie with a high popcorn content but also one where you have to keep your thoughts and your brain cells working.

Saw it on TV yesterday. Sorry about the ads in between. But that is simply the consequence of commercial TV.

Time travel film with a familiar theme: change history.

The story is, I think, unnecessarily complicated. Sending people back in time and then killing them so they don't leave traces in the present time. buoys. But it changes, because Joe knows it's his turn too and he is confronted with his future Joe. At least that's how I understood it.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis are good actors. And they are doing well again in Looper. I wouldn't have placed Gordon-Levitt in these types of films so quickly. Emily Blunt and the boy (Pierce Gagnon) also did well.

Perhaps the director should have made the film less complex.

It's an exciting movie. Starts a bit slow. But then it gets off to a good start.

Something different from the average sci-fi/thriller.
