Professional matchmaker Lucy [Dakota Johnson] celebrates the ninth time that a date she arranged has led to marriage. After some reluctance, she is seduced into a date with “Unicorn” Harry [Pedro Pascal], the groom’s brother, but also accidentally meets her ex John [Chris Evans], who at 37 is still struggling to make ends meet while still pursuing a career on stage. An attractive cast is saddled with sometimes banal dialogue that never sparks in a romantic drama that is ruined by Song’s extremely slow direction.

Nice movie about a woman who is successful in her work as a professional matchmaker. The work of the main character is more interesting (the superficial nature of the modern dating world) than the triangle relationship that is introduced (that aspect of the movie is quite predictable).

A cleverly written romantic comedy full of interesting ideas and strong dialogue, though the film runs a bit long and runs out of steam towards the end. The excellent cast makes up for a lot; the three leads are all excellent. The ending feels a bit like an unbelievable compromise for the likable but stubborn characters, but thankfully, it's not too troubling.

I agree with the above review. A very pleasant film in terms of atmosphere, fantastic framing, and choice of backgrounds. Also, some beautifully drawn-out scenes. But that stretch runs out a bit in the last half hour. You could easily cut another 15 minutes and have an even better film. Still, it's promising, and in my opinion, it's not yet fully appreciated.
