For a change I'm going to write something positive about a Dutch romkom. And I even vote well above average. Why? Two words: Elise, Sheep.

Never heard of that whole woman until the Undercover series, of course. And countless characters at the TV Kantine (with Margaret Thatcher as the absolute highlight). In terms of appearance, the perfect combination between girl next door and classy lady. She also has a head that you can use in all directions. Very clever how she has become a household name in a short time.

Never heard of Martijn Lakemeier either, but he portrays a very nice, natural character. Thijs Römer is back doing what he does best: playing an asshole. Surprisingly good acting by Yvon Jaspers (for a non-actress that is). The whole gay subplot has been dragged in and everything else is stupid and drowsy too (with the exception of Henry van Loon, of course).

It's really a movie that women in baggy sweaters watch from the couch under a fleece blanket, with a tub of Ben & Jerrys or a rosette, if possible with the bestie visiting, also under a blanket.

But for me as a man it is also fine to get through, solely because of the talent of Elise Schaap, who shows that he can do very well with very little. She carries the film entirely with her own hands. In my opinion one of the best actresses in our country.

3.5 stars

Not very bad. Especially Schaap is a nice actress and Lakemeijer is a nice surprise, with which the central duo gives the film enough flair. The supporting roles were all a lot less (especially those men have 0 chemistry with Schaap), the humor is very simple and towards the end the pace turns out not to be great because despite the short duration, I feel the film lasts quite long . 2.5*.

Roos [Elise Schaap] is the native Bridget Jones: she is over thirty, sees that more and more old friends and acquaintances are getting married, and is rudely dumped by Pieter [Jeroen Spitzenberger] who also bites her that she doesn't dare to be herself. Roos finds some solace in her work as a laboratory assistant and is saddled by her boss [Loes Haverkort] with the laconic intern Daan [Martijn Lakemeier]. When another ex [Harry van Loon] invites her to his wedding, Roos takes Daan along as an introduction. During that wedding she meets Jacob [Thijs Römer] for whom she immediately falls in love. But is he really the one? Predictable romantic comedy should hardly be worth watching, but the charisma and chemistry between Schaap and Lakemeier makes it manageable despite a chronic lack of originality.
