All You Need Is Love plot
Maarten ter Horst, the unsurpassed presenter of the popular TV program 'All You Need Is Love', disappears on the eve of the famous Christmas special. Maarten has lost his faith in love. Ten months earlier he lost his wife Madelief, the love of his life. Unbeknownst to his editors, he boards a plane and flees to the Scottish highlands for a hike, an ode to his late wife. Meanwhile, his producer Olav, assistant Japie and the entire editorial staff are desperately looking for a new host.

My oh my.....saw this dragon in the cinema yesterday with my daughter. The story itself is nice, but I was extremely irritated by the poorly acted accents, too normal. And all the people from outside the Randstad were portrayed as moronic hillbillies. A bit of a shame. Other than that, this film is what you can expect from it. Not bad, but feel free to wait until it's out of the cinema.

A rom-com with storylines that all fit together has now become a genre in itself. 17 years after founder Love Actually it still doesn't seem to have been exhausted, but this means we now have enough material to compare and separate the wheat from the chaff.
Alles is Liefde is considered the first and still one of the better Dutch attempts and All you need is love also pales in comparison. All actors squeeze the most out of their roles, but they are often rather cliché and superficially written so that they never gain much depth. The stories don't really fit together either. Only at the very end is there a small amount of overlap.
It must be said that I think the film is a bit better than some other Dutch rom-coms of recent years such as Mannenharten parts 1 and 2, Hartenstraat and Pak van mijn Hart (damn, those titles...).
The star of the show was Yannick Jozefzoon, a dark guy with an Overijssel accent. And not just the accent, but also statements 'we are going to him' instead of 'we are going to him'. Nice details.
Without discussing all the characters separately, I found one thing striking: Miss Jannie (from Jiskefet) was in love with a guy in a faraway country, who suddenly couldn't come because he had 'made the wrong investment'. You feel a Kees van der Spek-esque internet scam coming, but that turns out not to be the case.
Well, one more thing: for the first time, Frank Lammers bothered me. The best man can break a game with me, but why he had to play a Limburger, I have no idea. And couldn't he have shared his secret with his wife? A needless 'wanted' storyline.
Tight 3 stars.

By Dutch standards, this romcom by director Will Koopman is certainly not the least successful, but the lack of ambition remains an obstacle to the overall experience. All You Need Is Love features a large collection of A-names (from Dutch soil), but only a handful of actors and actresses manage to excel. Positive input is provided by Fedja van Huêt, Bracha van Doesburgh, Waldemar Torenstra and Ilias Addab, who all make the most of what can be achieved with a clichéd scenario. As a result, not every story within this ensemble film has failed, but that does not alter the fact that there is a lot of pushback. Frank Lammers, Jasha Rudge and Trudy Labij in particular are shockingly bad, making the film an interplay between nice clips and terribly irritating relationship development. As a show, it would behoove you to select the most unsympathetic people that exist. As a professional curmudgeon, towards the final phase (where everything comes together nicely), I was mainly convinced that at least half of them did not deserve to be so happy. I share the opinion of other users that images of the Scottish countryside are very beautiful and I thought it was a shame that Rop Verheijen (who also did not do wrong) was thrown so deeply into caricature.
