Debeso plot

Set in the early 1960s, in various parts of rural Japan, the film tells of the fortunes of a traveling vaudeville troupe seeking to escape the clutches of their mobster owners. Yabe Kotaro (played by comedian Kataoka Tsurutaro) is a misfit and bum, just released from two years in prison for an assassination attempt. Reluctantly, he becomes the leader of the company. In the end, he turns out to be the least corrupt and most generous leader the company has ever had, but before he can leave for Tokyo, there are countless emotional, sexual and criminal problems to overcome.
