""EVERY TIME I TRY TO GET NEXT TO A BLONDE...A KILLER GETS THERE FIRST!""

Playboy Larry Blandon introduces his fiancé and singer Virginia Berneaux to his grandmother Stella. Despite Larry's turbulent life with six romances and divorces, Virginia has decided to marry Larry. At night, Virgina is murdered and Larry contacts his friend Philo Vance. He hopes Vance will help him find the killer. During their conversation, Larry is killed. Vance begins his investigation with a visit to Alexis Carnova, Virginia's manager. Vance and Carnova then go to Stella and she suspects that Larry's six ex-wives are involved in the murders and that his estate could be a motive.
