Mortal Thoughts plot

"Murder is a secret that should never be shared."

Joyce and Cynthia run a successful hair salon together. Cynthia, who is happily married, has to watch with a heavy heart as Joyce is mistreated by her abusive husband. James, a drug-addicted brute, is therefore abhorred by everyone. One day he is found dead . However, no one mourns his death and several people have even wished the tyrant dead. Joyce is immediately the prime suspect. The police bombard Cynthia as a key witness, in the hope that she can provide them with the necessary evidence about Joyce's guilt.

Reasonable film about two women who help each other because one of them is mistreated by her husband. The plot is pretty standard. The setup is simple but effective and it makes the film entertaining (a police interrogation with subsequent flashbacks). The atmosphere is very similar to a noir. In terms of acting, the scenes between Harvey Keitel and Demi Moore are the best.

Am I really the first to give this a 3.5*? Don't miss this thriller. It is told entirely in flashback within the context of a police interrogation, but that does not disappoint. Joyce is married to white trash James (Bruce Willis) and is being abused. She begins to consider murder more and more and expresses her feelings with best friend Cynthia, who tries to change her mind. The marital tensions are getting out of hand... Mortal Thoughts doesn't like action and spectacle, but the search for the catch made the film successful for me and kept my attention firmly. Nice story without a doubt where not everything is black and white, and not even badly acted.

Great movie.

The story is told in an interrogation at the police station, in which flashbacks give you a picture of what happened.

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis act excellently, with Willis playing a beautiful role as a first-class leech.

The rest was a bit disappointing, Harvey Keitel wasn't very special and Headly annoyingly bad, like you're used to from 80's early 90's movies, exaggerated with lots of yelling.

The atmosphere from that time came out nicely, for then of course self-evident, now nice to see.

The film has no unbearable tension and you don't have to expect a big plot twist, just a pleasant detective in which the real perpetrator is slowly worked up.

Great film and because after 30 years it was still worth watching half a * more!

6,5/7-

3*
