Twenty years after emigrating to America, Paul Mathry returns to Liverpool for a short visit. He is shocked to learn that his father Patrick, who he assumed died as a war hero, is in prison for a murder. Patrick is said to have committed this murder when Paul had just left England. Paul goes to investigate the murder and suspects, the more information he gathers, that his father is innocent.
