The film is set around a 1920s university. Librarian Connie Lane (Allyson) falls in love with football hero Tommy Marlowe (Lawford). Unfortunately love is not reciprocal; he falls for the temptress Pat McClellan. Tommy takes a slip, costing him an important game. Connie learns that Tommy actually loves her and devises a plan to win him back to her and to football.
