Very good.

The Mist starts out as a typical survival horror movie. Mysterious fog, people get trapped in a supermarket and have to survive there. Not something very special.

As The Mist builds up, the film begins to unfold into a very strong film. Very well acted by Jones and Miss Cassidy. In a crazy way, a crazy idea starts to transform into a realistic wink at the people. This could happen if you are locked in a group. Well I won't say Jane was very good, and he was also a reason why I'm deducting this movie some points

The CGI is not very special, but the atmosphere and a strong story is why this film is a must. The ending is very hard and can stay with me for a while.

The Mist is one of those movies that I have fond memories of, because I first saw it in 2007 in one of those typical drive-in cinemas in America. Very nice to have experienced and an ideal film for in the car. The story is nice and classic King. A small town somewhere in America (probably Maine), normal villagers who play the leading role in the story and a mysterious sauce that creates a hidden tension. The dynamics in a group dealing with such a situation is also interesting. The mutual feuds between the people are magnified in such a situation and during the film you can also get annoyed by such a religion crazy. Normally I would consider that a negative, but because she gets what she deserved, I think it's a strong point. I can still remember everyone in the car cheering when it happened.

That the CGI absolutely does not stand the test of time is a small blemish on the film, but it has more to offer so that I did not find it a disturbing factor. Furthermore, the actors are okay, but no further details. It was nice to see a few characters from the Walking Dead pass by. You immediately know how Darabont got it.
Where the film manages to rise above an average King story is the ending. Normally it ends with gibberish and often feels a bit cheesy. But the shocking ending and the hopelessness that Jane's character feels is harrowing and cuts through your soul. Still one of the strongest endings in a King film adaptation I know.

Ultimately just a strong King adaptation of Darabont and one that I will cherish for a long time from a sentimental point of view.

4.0*
