Nice film in which a prince escapes a plague by locking himself in his castle. Roger Corman who again adapts a story by Edgar Allan Poe. Even though the film is not too long, it does lag a bit at times. An excellent setting, with the masked ball at the end in particular standing out visually.

Not really Horror, but atmospheric. I used to enjoy watching medieval films like that. Here the story is perhaps a bit mediocre (a typical Edgar Allen Poe story) but I thought the way it was visualized was extraordinary at certain moments.

Beautiful mysterious story that gains even more strength through the great visual appearance of the film. The setting of a medieval era is cleverly depicted. The locations, the sets and the splendor of colors are overwhelming. For example, the different consecutive rooms with different colors, the festive celebration, the masquerade ball, the forest in the mist, the clothing, ... The story also has something profound regarding faith and death that every person must face at some point in their life. behold. The link between the suffering in the world is also made with darkness, the devil in person, of which power and abuse of power form the essence. In addition, Vincent Price is perfectly cast for the role of Prospero. Great actor who I have gotten to know since the horror challenges in which many good films have already appeared in which he plays the leading role. The discovery of the horror challenges for me is Mr. Price!
