Douglas Elmore is an alcoholic writer and janitor who is terrorized by visions of his dead wife. He is also being chased by supernatural forces who want to punish him for things he has done in the past. When Douglas finds several tenants of his apartment complex dead, he thinks the homeless prostitute Karna has something to do with it. Karna sleeps in the basement during the day and roams the streets at night. As the bodies begin to pile up, Douglas is caught between his obsession for Karna and the fact that he is becoming a murder suspect. He will now have to search for the origin of the evil that resides in the building before the secrets of his past return to clear him once and for all.
