A special film where the makers could not choose what kind of film they made. So there are sci-fi elements, like police crime/thriller elements, in combination with a bit of horror.
I had quite a bit of trouble getting a grip on the story in the first part of the film, because it all seems a bit messy and random.
Despite the fact that the greats Price, Lee and Cushing are grandly named in the opening credits, none of them play major roles. Cushing comes off the worst, but Lee and Price still have a reasonable significance within the story.
The story remains a bit vague and the disappearance of many bodies in acid becomes a bit repetitive towards the end of the film.
Despite the presence of "the big 3" from the horror world of the 50s, 60s and 70s, the film does not entertain enough. It all remains a bit too vague and confusing for me.

Yes I like .... what starts as a standard 1970s English horror-spy-police-thriller-movie derails halfway into a nothing less than brilliant plot. There is an explanation for this, in the original book it was about aliens and here they are conveniently replaced by communists, otherwise it would have become more standard SF, now it has become completely insane.
The big three on one movie poster was of course too good to be true, they are supporting roles, Vincent Price's is still an important one, Christopher Lee is the striker and only has to shoot once in the goal. Peter Cushing, he does no more than a cameo. The rest are the noble unknown actors and actresses, but that should not spoil the fun.

This is good trash from times long gone. The setting is swinging London at the end of the sixties. Pop culture comes to the fore in the title song and the few striking scenes in the London nightclub. Furthermore, it is a good story that only reveals its secrets towards the end. Which is of course a good thing. The credits list no less than three icons of horror with Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Vincent Price. Their screen time is all in all quite limited. Peter Cushing really has a small role. Lee and Price are also only seen to a limited extent but get a prominent role in a nice finale.
