1993. The bodies of James Connelly and Joe Gainard are found in the town of Solvay. All available evidence indicates that Joe is James's killer and that Joe died of natural causes before he could leave the crime scene. Not long after the bodies are found, people they find near the railroad disappear between markings 313 and 330. Ten years later, James' older sister Michele, along with a journalist, finds out what really happened to her brother. and the 30 individuals who have since disappeared. At the beginning, she is thwarted in her investigation by the local sheriff. She soon senses that something is being hidden. The farmers in the neighborhood tell her that the Sheriff has forbidden anyone to go to the track where the bodies were found. They also tell her that corpses have been found in the wheat field near Joe's old house. Corpses of which it has been 50 years for some since they were last seen alive.
