It's Halloween night in a small town in the United States. A group of high school students are having a party in a remote house. Ghosts are rumored to be wandering around the house. The students have a lot of fun there. However, that comes to an abrupt end when they discover that they are trapped in the house.

A suspenseless yet entertaining horror thriller from SyFy's extensive arsenal. House of the Witch benefits from a delightfully direct approach with a well-developed range of imaginative and entertaining ideas interspersed with excellent acting. The downside is that screenwriter Neil Elman saddles the cast with wooden dialogue and flawed characters that are simply difficult to emulate, but Emily Bader, Darren Mann, and Coy Stewart certainly do a decent job. The characters all meet their creative ends consistently, and the cinematography of House of the Witch looks decent. It's a shame, however, that the computer effects are cheap, the tension never ramps up significantly, and it all fizzles out somewhat once the revelation is revealed.
