Better than expected !
The film has a nice approach instead of the umpteenth film about a demonchild. Here there is a very different and nice fact. The acting is decent and the kid played quite a creepy role.
The story has a patient build-up with a few scare moments, although these do not provide the necessary horror elements. Rather, it's the concept, the thought around the topic of reincarnation in the form of an evil soul that has yet to finish something in this world. The dark atmosphere does the rest. The ending can be called somewhat surprising and without a doubt satisfying. 7/10

I liked The Prodigy better than expected. A fascinating story that is also well developed. A few nice jumpscares and there is such a strange tension constantly lurking because the evil is in your own child. More towards the end, the makers of The Prodigy get rid of it a bit quickly. The beginning is also a bit sloppy and the first scenes do not flow into each other too smoothly. Perhaps a little more background on the evil soul in his previous body could have made the movie a little more complete.
But otherwise I think this is above average for a horror and I had a great time with this.

Whether it's reincarnation or possession .. with regard to the elaboration of The Prodigy, this makes little difference. This is a typical genre film that contains few surprises, does contain a number of nice scares, but is also so predictable that I don't want to give this more than a five.
Although there are a number of attempts to surprise the audience, these surprises are not successful. The ideas that the director has are insufficiently creative, or they are not used enough. The reincarnation aspect is nothing more than a gimmick and does not add any value to the story. The same goes for the plot twist at the end that you've seen many times before and of which you already see it coming before it has taken place.
