"Holy Mother of Hip-Hop Jesus!" Satirical horror is not necessarily my preference, but with such fast dialogues, such fun one-liners and such full-bodied performances as those of Thea Gill as Jane Cleaver and Robert Picardo as Kurt Rand, this film is still excellent. In terms of bluntness, these two characters are well matched, but Jane perhaps narrowly wins because of her ruthless statements, for example about the (American) zombies: "far be it from me to offend members of a loser religion, but if I were an Islamic fascist, right now I'd have to take this as an omen. I mean, talk about our God is bigger than your God !" Nice black humor too: when Gordon Hofstadter has to read a statement with his shattered eye socket, he puts on his glasses - and one of the glasses is broken, because of course the bullet that ended his life came through that[/spoiler ]. Perhaps not horror, but very entertaining, with Jon Tenney as an excellent "alter ego" of the audience and with a nice plot twist.
By the way, I'm glad I watched this film before I read the messages here, because several people here simply reveal the solution to what has puzzled the characters for a long time, namely why the zombies have returned - if that's not a spoiler, I know neither does it anymore. And Theunissen, it's just a detail. but the man shot dead by young David is not his father but his older brother.
Well, one more, again from Jane and again about the zombies: “They've studied these creatures and they have no higher brain function. Their intelligence level is basically that of a liberal.”

I thought it started out very cool, but after that I thought it was just a lot of whining. I think it could include political satire, but I didn't find it sharp, witty, exciting or entertaining after 5 minutes. I would have preferred if the message was just an aside, now it consumes the film. I actually find the MoH a bit disappointing so far.

And then I came across a box with two films at the thrift store called Masters of Horror and I decided to take it with me because of the name Argento. The second film on the disc called Jenifer was by Dario Argento, well I won't pass it up and it included this Joe Dante and therefore an equally well-known name because of Gremlins, The Burbs and Beverly Hills Cop 3, just to name a few. to name a few, and actually great films.

It turned out that this is no guarantee for other work, because I don't know exactly what Homecoming was supposed to represent, but it was certainly not horror. Homecoming, on the other hand, seems like a kind of political satire where the zombies want to vote and the politicians are inhuman, which in itself is very appropriate after yesterday's elections. So satire, but it should be funny, which it isn't. The end result is a bland film with zombies, which in itself is not something I wouldn't turn my hand to, but I actually had very little interest in this. Then I would almost rather have seen Dominique Swain being chewed up naked yesterday in Nazi Overlord, if it weren't for the fact that it was a terribly bad film. But this Dante also scores very poorly.
