A group of young people decide to make a live stream of their exploration of an abandoned psychiatric hospital in Gonjiam for their horror channel. What starts with anticipation and making funny videos with their Go Pros soon gets out of hand when they enter the psychiatric hospital. Two boys stage some scares for the ratings, but it soon turns out there is more to it and they have to run for their lives. The film mainly relies on the creepy atmosphere of the dilapidated hospital and the jump scares, and the Koreans have succeeded in that! The story takes a while to get going and the action really gets going in the last 35 minutes. The film reminded me a bit of this youtube video: Japanese ghost: the haunted hospital (FULL FOOTAGE) - YouTube sometime, you know what to expect from this kind of Asian docu/horror.

That scene with the black pupils and the gibberish.. It's been a while since I saw such an effective horror moment in a movie. Furthermore, a film that offers nothing new and has a somewhat difficult first hour, but the last half hour is quite good in terms of horror with even some seriously creepy scenes here and there. The IMDb average is a lot more representative than the meager figure here. Spacious 3*

Well, somewhat expected, but not really my thing. Although I really liked Blair Witch (at least at the time), found footage is usually not for me, and this one is no exception. A group of YouTubers investigates an abandoned insane asylum in Gonjiam where it is said to be haunted and where two teenagers have disappeared. And it turns out (otherwise they probably wouldn't have made the film), it's really not right. I found our Korean friends to be quite bearable in the first half, but as soon as they encounter real misery it becomes increasingly disturbing the hysterical screams that keep erupting. There are a few really creepy moments, like that possessed girl with black eyes who babbles, but also a lot of darkness with poor lighting that creates jump scares and a lot of shaky cameras. In itself quite nice in its genre, but I'll continue with something that probably suits me better.
