Bed Rest plot
"Fear never rests"
After years of struggling to start a family, Julie Rivers is pregnant again and moves into a new home with her husband Daniel to start with a clean slate. After being put on bed rest, Julie slowly begins to unravel as she endures the monotony and anxiety of her new obligations. Soon, terrifying, ghostly experiences in the house begin to haunt Julie, fueling her past demons and causing others to question her mental stability. Trapped and forced to confront her past and the supernatural, Julie fights to protect herself and her unborn baby.

Melissa Barrera is too good an actress to appear in this kind of trash, even though director Lori Evans Taylor does attempt to create something original. Unfortunately, this doesn't quite pan out in Bed Rest due to a lack of tension, atmosphere, and interesting characters. Towards the end, the film also veers off course by taking a highly imaginative turn, a directorial choice that proves largely inconsistent. Furthermore, Bed Rest is characterized by an overly concise setting, meaning the sense of unsafeness and threat Barrera is supposed to feel is never conveyed to the viewer. It's all quite doable for a single viewing, but for high-quality horror, you'll have to look elsewhere.
