Poe what a setback.. Let me start with positive first.

Again excellently built suspense with well-timed scares and excellent acting by all actors. The biggest flaw in the film is that I didn't feel emotionally connected to what I did have with the original.

The reason for that is that Cillian Murphy's character got in the way quite a bit. I didn't feel a connection with him because he was so mediocre

be introduced. Miss scenes with his wife and children and how they died. Plus, Blunt should have gone looking for her daughter and not Murphy's character. Film feels tattered more of the same and empty with a weak open ending.

Curious how much money Djimon Hounsou got for his useless role, nice cash grab for him.

Part 2.

Second parts are usually worse than the first. Far too often success is milked out without adding anything. So I didn't have very high expectations to be honest, part 1 was also a bit disappointing.

And that is not so bad, it is a reasonable sequel. Just like with the first part, I think it's a shame that the concept isn't used more. For example, it could have been a lot quieter for me. And the ending is downright bad - anyway because there's so much hint of a third part already, but also because the plot is way too far towards Mars Attacks! go. But without the humor.

Besides that, it is of course a bit of a problem in the whole action genre that when it comes to shooting the realism goes overboard on all sides. Fits in a bit. But the logic by which a handful of aliens have apparently overrun the entire American subcontinent, apparently completely neutralized the world's most heavily armed military — and then simply lie down at the first untargeted bark of a shotgun. Yep, Hollywood.

Watched this second part and thought it was a nice movie. Maybe less memorable scenes, but still worth seeing. The cast was back on track and everything looked fine again.
