Jovovich reunites with the screenwriter/director of the Resident Evil franchise for yet another film based on a silly computer game, and the result is hardly surprising. On a barren planet, a lieutenant [Jovovich] faces a huge monster that has killed the members of her unit and gets help from a resourceful warrior [Tony Jaa]. Perlman shows up for a disappointingly routine cameo and does his part in the seemingly endless battle against the monster. The first half hour isn't bad, but the rest of the film consists of a series of fights with a lot of noise, silly heroics and a predictable ending.
