Red and Chloe are polar opposites. They cross paths during a memorable party in Auradon when chaos unexpectedly breaks out. Most of the main characters from the previous three films are on a diplomatic trip around the world and that is why Uma [China Anne McClain] has been appointed as regent. She also decides to open Auradon Prep School this year to children from Wonderland, including Ella [Morgan Dudley], the daughter of Cinderella [Brandy], and Red [Kylie Cantrall], the daughter of the Queen of Hearts [Rita Ora]. When the latter uses the invitation to take revenge for the evil prank that turned her into a villain, Red and Chloe end up in the past thanks to a pinch of magic. They meet and befriend the teenage versions of their mothers and discover that the line between good and evil is very thin. Their main mission: to prevent the evil prank, in the hope that it will make Red's mother a less vengeful version of herself. Phang distances himself from the silly humor of the two previous films. The soundtrack is also better, with 'Life is Sweeter' as a standout. Great, unpretentious entertainment for children and pre-pubescent teens leaves the door wide open for another sequel.
