The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement plot

"It can take a lifetime to find true love; she's got 30 days!"

As the future Queen of Genovia, Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway) has everything a girl could wish for. Together with her friend Lilli, she traveled to the fictional country somewhere between Spain and Italy and moved in with her beautiful, wise grandmother Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews). She wants to take the time to get to know the country well and get used to her princess life. But she also has to act like a real princess. A Member of Parliament, who actually wants his nephew on the throne, also comes up with an old Genovian law. It states that you can only ascend the throne if you are married...

Average super sweet cream bowl that you really have to be a fan of. I watched with my wife and daughter and the film was not too bad for me.

Nice sequel. Slightly better than part 1.

Mediocre, albeit slightly better than the first part. That's mainly because of Hathaway who doesn't have to play the whole stupid stuffy pussy now. She's still clumsy, but it's less annoying than in the first part. Furthermore, this is clearly a children's film, in the way of acting, the lame humor and the fact that when Rhys-Davies says that people want to grab Hathaway's tiara (read: crown), he also has to say to himself afterwards that he that is.

Anyway, the film also has a certain charm and that Clarkson song is nice. And while Hathaway isn't a great actress here yet, she's doing quite well as a leading lady. Andrews and Elizondo. Furthermore, the decoration is nice with that typical European, although the camera work is nowhere special or sparkling. And really, that's the whole story of the movie. It's not all that bad and good to watch, but also a bit boring and dozed so you often look at your clock to see how long this will last.

Furthermore, the first hour is still quite nice to look at, but in the end there is no progress and the whole film is at least fifteen minutes too long. 2.0*.
