A slightly better sequel, because the world has been introduced by now and all the basic issues have been somewhat resolved. However, director Todd Holland and his screenwriters cheerfully invent some more problems, making Monster High 2 frequently feel quite simple and simplistic. Fortunately, there are plenty of sets and colorful environments to satisfy viewers seeking visual entertainment for a moment, but the costumes look rather simple and much of the choreography does not appear well thought out and/or rehearsed. It remains a rather childish setting that might appeal to a somewhat younger target audience, but it is about time the studios put a bit more effort into this. Not in this world, however, as the third installment has been officially cancelled.
