When a Man Sees Red plot

When Larry Smith returns home after a long sea voyage, he discovers that his sister has been murdered. When his mother dies of grief shortly afterwards, Larry sets off on a journey with the intention of taking revenge on the perpetrator. He does not realize that his sister has been murdered by the captain of his ship. In a port in the South Pacific, Larry falls in love with Violet North, known as “the whitened lady.” He proposes to her, but she turns him down. He then searches for the perpetrator with a sailor who witnessed his sister's murder.
