Wenecja plot
When war breaks out in Poland in 1939, Marek's dream of a summer trip to Venice is shattered. He tries to escape the harsh, terrifying reality in his aunt's basement until it is flooded during a severe storm. His aunt tries to help Marek in his distraction from the horror outside by helping him make his journey and construct a 'Venice' in the flooded basement. Together they travel through their underground dream world, which gradually begins to seem more realistic than the one from above.
