Volver a empezar tells the story of Fernandis, a professor, who returns for a long time to his hometown in Spain. Once there, he is reunited with Paso, an old love he has not seen since the Spanish Civil War. Unfortunately, the old love can never blossom again, when it turns out that Fernandis is incurable.
