Verlorenes Land plot

Bavaria, shortly after World War II. Maria has found the love of her life in the French prisoner of war Jean-Pierre. Together with Maria's son, the two have built a life together on the farm of her in-laws, who turn a blind eye to Maria's happiness. When one day Maria's husband returns from Russia in a sick and confused state, Maria decides to take her happiness in her own hands.
