Julie is approaching 30 and experiencing a minor existential crisis. She doesn't know how to use her talents and her boyfriend Aksel, a successful cartoonist, has been wanting to settle down for a while now. When she invites herself to a party, Julie meets the charming Eivind. She soon exchanges Aksel for this new relationship.

Not completely blown away by this acclaimed film by Joachim Trier. I'm not a big fan of coming of age stories in general. I usually appreciate them, but rarely see great things in them. Not here either. We follow Julie and like many people the age of 30 is what a turning point in your life. In general, you are in a relationship, your career is in full swing and child planning is not far away either. The question is, of course, whether you want to continue all this and whether you should not make drastic decisions.
Julie struggles with all of this. Joachim Trier then creates a lighthearted lively character with a kind of joie de vivre. Renate Reinsve then does the rest with her engaging personality and fun appearance. Here and there those special cinematographic scenes that as a whole bring some panache to the story.
That division into chapters hadn't been necessary for me. I didn't see the added value of it either. The pace of the film is like Julie's lifestyle: a rollercoaster to the last minute where drama and lightness go together.

Excellent film about a woman who doesn't quite know what she wants with her life and falls in love. A fresh film that is not directly a love drama, but also not a rom-com. The characters come out well. Good dialogues and the film manages to move here and there. The film also manages to capture the current zeitgeist well. Renate Reinsve knows how to keep the attention in the lead role.
