Karen is abused by her boyfriend Roger and becomes an alcoholic. In addition, Roger uses Karen's daughter, Sarah, as a prostitute and Karen knows about this. Despite her horrible childhood, Sarah develops a close friendship with a horse on a ranch especially for people who have experienced traumatic events. On this ranch, Sarah tries to find redemption and give her past a place.
