Two for the Money plot

"How much will you risk?"

Former American football player Brandon Lang has a knack for predicting the results of all kinds of sports games. When cunning businessman and con man Walter Abrams spots the young man, he takes him under his wing. Walter teaches Brandon his illegal practices, makes him rich quick, and introduces him to the jet set life. The two actually develop a father-son relationship, but it disappears like snow in the sun when Brandon starts to lose his 'magic touch'. Now he is suddenly responsible for millions of losses and Walter is going to make it very difficult for his protégé. This creates a personal battle between two crooks who, in addition to a lot of money, have something much more important to lose: their pride and ego.

The rise & fall story in a new jacket. A bit like Wolf or Wall Street, but less grand and without amusing fringe. Pacino can once again enjoy himself in a role and he does this with verve, but McConaughey also holds up well. Pretty nice drama film, although every now and then it lacks the necessary momentum to rise to great heights. Small 3.5*.

“Oh man... You better hold on to the coin you flipped. Because this game keeps up like this, I'm going to have to borrow it.”

Reasonable film by Pacino and McConaughey definitely worth watching. The story lacks some sharpness and is very predictable, but on the other hand it is entertaining to watch a Pacino and McConaughey who increasingly get into trouble. Their interplay gives Two for the Money that little bit extra, and ensures that you don't forget the film after just one second.
