Transit plot
A Jewish-German refugee arrives in Israel on the eve of World War II. He starts a family, but nevertheless does not yet feel at home in his new country. He remains connected to Berlin with every fiber of his being; the culture of the city, its essence. As far as he is concerned, Israel is no more than a temporary shelter. He gradually withdraws from his wife, his son who does not understand him, his sisters who are haunted by the past and the rental apartment where he has lived all these years. He settles into a budget hotel on the coast of Tel Aviv, associates with a group of marginal misfits, and dreams of moving back to Berlin.
