Thunderbolt: Magun plot
Ngozi and Yinka, a married couple, are constantly arguing. She's Ibo, he's Yoruba - a tribal contradiction that apparently isn't easy to ignore. Yinka suspects his wife of cheating. That has tragic consequences. Mysteriously, the cheerful and honest Ngozi falls under the spell of a deadly curse. It's magun: Any man she sleeps with will drop dead right after. And if she doesn't sleep with anyone for nine weeks, she will die herself. The herbalist who is involved admits that the condition is somewhat like AIDS. But there are important differences: Depending on the type of magun, the sexual partner dies after crowing like a rooster, doing a somersault or vomiting blood. In the worst case, the husband and wife do not become separated after the act and they die at the same time. Poor Ngozi awaits an intensive treatment full of painful abdominal massages and dirty drinks. And finally she has to persuade a man to make love to her; only then does it become clear whether the curse has been cast out. Not an easy task, because even her jealous husband refuses to submit to this experiment.
