The Stranger's Return plot
"A story of real people"
Louise from Manhattan is bored and goes to visit her family ranch in Iowa. Her grandfather Storr, a short-tempered Civil War veteran, rules the ranch with the help of the often drunk but reliable handyman Simon. Storr's stepdaughter Beatrice and her lazy husband Allen are hostile to Louise. Things don't get much better when Louise befriends farmer Guy, wife of the locally popular Nettie. Louise regains esteem in the community when she assists her grandfather in a legal dispute with his greedy stepdaughter, who is after his estate.
