The Scarf plot
"They had nothing to lose but life...and they knew how cheap that was!"
John Barrington escapes from a mental asylum and finds refuge on Ezra Thompson's turkey ranch. Barrington, suffering from amnesia, recovers some of his memories and sets out to uncover the truth about whether he really killed his lover and whether he is actually insane. He travels to Los Angeles to visit his oldest and closest friend: psychiatrist David Dunbar, who was a witness to Barrington's crime. Dunbar repeats his story and convinces Barrington that he committed the crime. He then informs the police. However, Thompson, Connie Carter and others are not entirely convinced of Barrington's guilt.
