The Magnet plot
Johnny Brent steals a powerful magnet from a boy. The series of events that follow makes him want nothing more than to lose the thing. However, the magnet keeps coming back in its path. From a conversation on the train he concludes that the boy whose magnet he stole has died. Johnny panics because everything points to it being his fault.
