Second film directed by Asia Argento (the daughter of Italian horror master Dario Argento). Lydia Lunch as a social worker, Wynona Ryder as a child psychologist, Ornella Muti as a deeply religious grandmother, and Marilyn Manson gets seduced by Jimmy Bennett.
Hasil Adkens, Sonic Youth, The Subhumans, Andre Williams and The Knoxville Girls on the soundtrack.
The amount of misery poured across the screen here is quite unparalleled and can hardly be called realistic anymore. It is a sort of over-the-top melodrama, but that is comparable to the book (the full story behind it can be found on the internet).
Argento goes full-out with a film that you certainly can't call boring and that also regularly seeks out the shock factor.

This curious film by Asia Argento has largely fallen into oblivion. Yet, somewhere in my memory, it remains a typical MM film. By that, I mean that a relatively large number of regular users manage to appreciate it. The film itself has its moments, but relies mainly on its 'flow'. Character development and plot are secondary. It doesn't help that the film is quite dated by now, but all in all, it is still quite worthwhile.

Asia Argento through and through. A vulgar film with a meandering story about vulgar people on the fringes of society. It took me quite some effort to make it to the end.
