The Green Temptation plot
To evade the police, Genelle, a member of the Parisian underworld, joins the Red Cross as a sister. Her experiences there change her for the better and towards the end of World War I she decides to go to the United States under the name Joan Parker. At a garden party, she runs into Gaspar, also a member of the underworld. He wants to steal an extremely precious jewel, "The Green Temptation", which belongs to Mrs. Duyker, the hostess. Gaspard tries to convince Joan to help him, but when she refuses, he reveals all about her past.
