The Erotic Man plot
Jørgen Leth travels to different countries, each time looking for a woman for one particular scene: A woman, mostly naked, sitting in a hotel room, mourning the loss of her lover who has returned to Europe. But with each new re-enactment of the scene, the question of credibility begins. It is, after all, a desolate fantasy – the constant demand for a man to re-experience the scene. The scenes are accompanied by footage of Leth alone in hotel rooms, mulling over the pitfalls and nature of his project; hilarious discussions of the casting sessions with his colleagues, aesthetic nude studies of female organs and a boat trip on the Amazon. The result is an elegy of lost possibilities and an ode to feminine sensuality.
