"The whole town WHISPERED about these two!"

A simple woman and an ex-GI, with scars, meet in the building where the woman works. The two develop a strong bond, and later decide to get married. However, they do this because they are afraid of getting into loneliness again, and not out of love. Yet they begin to feel attracted to each other.
